ok while i realize that this piece will not win any awards, i did research the topic
and learned a few things. and now hear they are: (oh by the way thank god this isnt a real class
with a real grading system as the puctuation and grammar would kill my grade)
DNS stands for domain name system. it is pretty much a database system that translates a fully qualified domain name into an IP address.
it acts sort of like a virtual phone operator or switchboard for the internet or local networks.
most people that are like me and can not remember my own phone number half the time let alone a long series of numbers for an IP address for every site i like to visit just enter the name of the site.
like http://www.myasslooksreallygoodinthesepants.com (just made up i apologize if i am infringing on someone elses trademarked name but oh well like i said im not winning any awards here.
the address using words for most people is a lot easier to remember than a bunch of numbers like 207.171.166.48 which by the way is the IP address for amazon.com.
seriously why try to remember a bunch of numbers when you can just put the name of the site in your browser and let the DNS process do the work for you.
Great information, and no, I’m not worried too much about punctuation at this point
